
Results of the 5th Edition of the Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli Competition (2013)
Based on the publications provided, the 5th edition of the Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli International Baroque Music Competition, held in 2013, announced its finalists and winners in the Singing and Musicology sections.
Singing Section
The six finalists of the singing section, who qualified for the final stage, were (in alphabetical order):

- Luca Cervoni
- Rebecca Dowd
- Flavio Ferri-Benedetti
- Aurelio Schiavoni
- Matus Simko
The winner of the singing section was the countertenor Aurelio Schiavoni. At the time, Aurelio Schiavoni, 33, was a graduate in Piano and Singing from the “Niccolò Piccinni” Conservatory in Bari, with additional studies in Renaissance and Baroque Singing. His repertoire ranged from the Renaissance and Baroque to contemporary music and the rediscovery of works written for the castrato voice.
Musicology Section
The winner of the musicology section was Peter Poulos, from the United States, with his essay titled “Simone Molinaro’s Madrigali a cinque voci and Genoese Patrons in Rome.”
The judging committee highlighted the scientific and cultural quality, originality, and literary quality of Peter Poulos’ work, awarding him the cash prize and the publication of his essay. The committee also specified that it would evaluate the possible publication of other essays submitted to the competition.
