Ruspoli Itinerancy 2016: A Tribute to Sacred Baroque and Nicolau de Figueiredo

It is with deep emotion that we share the recording of the 2016 Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli Musical Itinerancy. This concert, focused on “Sacred Baroque,” carries a special meaning: it is dedicated to the memory of Nicolau de Figueiredo, one of the world’s greatest harpsichordists, who left us unexpectedly in July of this year. Nicolau helped select this magnificent repertoire but was unable to conduct it.

Under the musical direction of Ricardo Kanji, the concert bridges European Baroque (Monteverdi, Scarlatti, Handel) with Luso-Brazilian Baroque (João Rodrigues Esteves and Lobo de Mesquita). The stage features the talents of Valentina Marghinotti (2015 Ruspoli Prize Winner) and Aurelio Schiavoni (2013 Winner), celebrating the continuity and excellence of early music.
