Handel in Italy Roman Sheet Music

The influential French magazine Point de Vue hits newsstands this June 2014 with a spectacular report titled “Partitions romaines” (Roman Scores). The article thoroughly explores the period of composer George Frideric Haendel in Italy, highlighting the essential role of Prince Francesco Ruspoli as one of his principal patrons.

The feature confirms that Haendel resides, composes, and conducts a number of works — approximately fifty cantatas — directly at Castello Ruspoli in Vignanello, the family’s magnificent country residence. The artistic legacy of Prince Ruspoli is alive and vibrant, being preserved and promoted by his descendant, Donna Giada Ruspoli.

The castle “is reborn” annually with the organization of the Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli International Baroque Music Competition, which is celebrating its fifth year of existence, encouraging young talents, artists, and musicologists.

The French magazine uses the article for an important announcement: the Versailles Festival is currently underway, and the gala event, the “Evening at Prince Ruspoli’s House,” is scheduled for July 6th at the Petit Trianon, with members of the family in attendance! Furthermore, Point de Vue announces the 6th Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli Competition (Baroque Violin and Musicology Section), which will take place in Vignanello on October 4th and 5th this year. Haendel’s music continues to unite the history of Rome, Vignanello, and Europe.
