Studies on the music of the Baroque era organized by Giorgio Monari
On February 28, 2012, at the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome, the presentation of the first volume of the Miscellanea Ruspoli 1-2011 series of Studies on Baroque Music, published by Libreria Musicale Italiana, edited by Giorgio Monari, took place.
Organized by the Santa Giacinta Marescotti Study and Research Center, in collaboration with the Accademia dell’Arcadia, the event was accompanied by the presentation of the winner of the II International Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli Competition, Dr. Giulia Giovani, of her research on “New documents on 17th-century Bolognese music publishing”.
Immediately afterward, soprano Gianluca Alonzi, accompanied by Andrea Buccarella on the harpsichord, performed several pieces including the aria “O tra sciepi sia la rosa” from Giovanni Giorgi’s unpublished cantata “Filli con abito nuovo”.
The volume, however, had been previously presented at the Castello Ruspoli in Vignanello, on January 29, 2012, on the occasion of the 372nd anniversary of the death of Santa Giacinta Marescotti, after whom the Study Center is named.
