LE FIGARO HIGHLIGHTS: Haendel and His Princes
The prestigious French newspaper Le Figaro features a prominent story today about Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli!
The Château de Versailles Summer Festival is currently holding a special Gala at the Petit Trianon in tribute to Haendel, publicly acknowledging the essential role of our ancestor. The event celebrates Prince Ruspoli, one of the oldest dynasties of Italian patrons, who welcomed the composer—freshly arrived from Hamburg—at the age of 35.
The article highlights that Haendel composed a series of cantatas, described as “jewels of vocal writing,” directly for the Prince. The Château de Versailles thus wishes to honor the memory of this “Illustrious figure without whom Haendel would not be Haendel.”
The gala, which recreates an 18th-century evening of patronage, is attended by the Ruspoli Family and celebrates the legacy that continues to inspire our International Competition.
