Vignanello – Eighth edition of the international baroque music competition: yet another success Ruspoli Prize, Perer and Ambrosio on the podium
VIGNANELLO Daniel Perer, harpsichord section, and Luca Ambrosio, musicology section, are the winners of the eighth edition of the “Prince Francesco Maria Ruspoli” international baroque music competition.
Perer, with outstanding technique and sensitivity, chosen among the finalists, also availed himself of the collaboration of countertenor Aurelio Schiavoni, winner of the competition (singing) in 2013. Ambrosio was awarded for his essay “Il dramma per musica a Roma dopo Giulio Rospigliosi: tipologie drammaturgiche e aspetti performativi”. Also awarded was Luiz Costa-Lima Neto, winner of the 2nd musicology competition organized in Brazil by the Associação Cultural Ruspoli, with the essay “Música e Sociedade nas Comédias de Costumes e Folhetins Líricos de Luiz Carlos Martins Penna (1838-1863)”.
From the words of the president of the Santa Giacinta Marescotti Study and Research Center, organizer of the competition, Silvestro Fochetti, atmosphere and prospects of the competition: “In the settings of the castle and the garden, the eighteenth-century emotion created by Francesco Maria Ruspoli (1672-1731) was revived, thanks to the excellent performances of the finalists and the countertenor Aurelio Schiavoni. The personalities and the large audience present underlined with prolonged applause the performances of the musicians, of the winner, in particular, who also performed improvised pieces dedicated to Donna Giada Ruspoli.”
Genuine satisfaction from President Fochetti: “The success of the competition is attested by feedback on an international level. To our presence in Brazil, Cuba, and Copenhagen, Germany will be added next year. I am also pleased with the publication of the 3rd volume of the Miscellanea Ruspoli, relating to the musicological sector, accompanied by the 1st Quaderno Ruspoli, which concerns the peer Brazilian competition. Heartfelt thanks to the people and institutions who supported the event. Special thanks to Donna Giada Ruspoli: her passionate, constant, proactive presence and her patronage allow the center’s projects to be realized.” — Nicola Piamartini
